After winning the Turnpike Trophy MVP on Wednesday, Boston University forward Tyler Scanlon continued his strong play with a 20-point, 11-rebound performance. The 6-foot-7, 215-pound junior found success from multiple spots, shooting 3-of-7 from deep, while knocking down 5-of-6 from foul line.
Scanlon and the Terriers defeated the Colgate Raiders, 76-68, at the Reid Athletic Center on Saturday afternoon.
It was a tough January for the Terriers (11-12, 4-6 Patriot League), who struggled with a four-game losing streak during the course. After snapping the streak on Wednesday, BU ended another streak today against the Raiders (13-10, 5-5 PL), who had won 12 straight at home heading into Saturday.
Junior forward Max Mahoney scored 16 points, while sophomore guard Javante McCoy added 10 points and 4 assists.
Colgate forward Rapolas Ivanauskas led the game with 24 points.
- Terriers posted 14 assists on just six turnovers.
- Freshman guard Jonas Harper earned his first start of the season.
- While the Jan. 5 win over Bucknell was the last time each member of the Scanlon-Mahoney-McCoy trio scored in double figures leading into Wednesday, Saturday’s Colgate win marked a back-to-back occasion that’s happened.
- BU again found success from the free throw line on Saturday, shooting 15-of-18. The team is now averaging 79.2 percent in conference play.
