BU comeback falls short, Bucknell wins, 82-76

The Boston University Terriers fought a 27-14 first-half lead, and a 3-pointer by sophomore guard Javante McCoy made it a four-point game with 18 seconds remaining in the game, but it wasn’t enough as the Bucknell Bison defeated the Terriers, 82-76, on Saturday afternoon at Sojka Pavilion.

Bucknell (16-8, 10-2 Patriot League) took control late in the second half, when an and one by senior guard Kimbal Mackenzie brought the score to a 79-67 Bison lead with 1:25 remaining in the game.

After allowing the early lead, the Terriers (11-14, 4-8 PL) finished a 10-0 run to bring the game to one possession. BU entered halftime with a 40-36 lead.

McCoy led the Terriers with 19 points. Junior forward Max Mahoney added a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while fellow captain Tyler Scanlon contributed 16 points and six assists.

Bucknell senior forward Nate Sestina posted game-highs 25 points and 11 rebounds. Junior forward Bruce Moore added a double-double (10 points and 10 rebounds), and Mackenzie scored 20 points.
